Tamal was a member of the Maquis. He joined the Maquis after meeting Thomas Riker. He was part of Riker's plan to steal the USS Defiant from Deep Space 9 in 2371 and take it to the Orias system in search for a secret Cardassian base. (DS9: "Defiant")
