Tau Ceti III was the inhabited third planet of the Tau Ceti system. This system was located in the Alpha Quadrant. Prior to stardate 41775, Jean-Luc Picard first met Walker Keel at "quite an exotic" bar on Tau Ceti III. (Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, production art; TNG: "Conspiracy")
According to the script for "Conspiracy", the pronunciation for this planet was "tow (rhymes with cow)- set-ee 3". [1]
In the "The Explored Galaxy" star chart, Tau Ceti was located between the Tholian Assembly and Romulus. Both were identified in DS9: "Call to Arms" as being located in the Alpha Quadrant.
According to The Worlds of the Federation, Tau Ceti III was also known as Kaferia and to the natives as Kohath-Seredi. Kaferian apples and the Kaferian insectoids are from this world. According to the Star Trek: Star Charts ("United federation of Planets I"), in 2378, Tau Ceti III was a Federation member.
