Tau Ceti Prime was the prime planet in the Tau Ceti system. This system was located less than 20 light years from the Sol system.

In 2293, the location of Tau Ceti in the Milky Way Galaxy was labeled in a star chart that was in Captain James T. Kirk's quarters aboard the USS Enterprise-A. (Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, production art)

Vice Admiral Janeway died on Tau Ceti Prime, when he drowned under an ice cap, in 2358. (VOY: "Coda")

In 2364, the location of Tau Ceti was labeled in a star chart of a stellar neighborhood with Sol as the center. This chart was filed in the USS Enterprise-D library computer. (TNG: "The Naked Now", display graphic)
