Theodore "Ted" Sorel (14 November 1936 – 30 November 2010; age 74) was the actor who played Kaval in the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode "Duet". He was born Theodore Eliopoulos in San Francisco, California. He died from Lyme disease at the Actors' Fund Home in Englewood, New Jersey at the age of 74.
Film work
In the 1970s, Sorel appeared in two films that were nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture: Bob Fosse's Lenny (1974) and Sidney Lumet's Network (1976). He is best known, however, for his role as Dr. Edward Pretorius in the cult 1986 science fiction/horror film From Beyond, which starred Jeffrey Combs.
