The Annotated Shakespeare was a hardbound book that contained all works written by William Shakespeare.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard owned a copy of this book and kept it under a glass cover in his ready room as well as in his quarters. (TNG: "The Battle", "The Arsenal of Freedom")
According to Berlinghoff Rasmussen, historians from the 26th century believed the captain had kept his volume of the Annotated Shakspeare on his desk rather than under a glass cover on a small table. (TNG: "A Matter Of Time")
This book was among the items Edward Jellico reminded Picard to remove from the ready room after Picard relinquished command of the USS Enterprise-D to Jellico in 2369. (TNG: "Chain Of Command, Part I") Picard gave the book to Commander William T. Riker prior to his departure for his mission on Celtris III. When Jellico relieved Riker of his responsibilities as First Officer, Riker took the time to leaf through the book. Upon Picard's return to the Enterprise, the book was returned to the ready room. (TNG: "Chain Of Command, Part II")
