The Faerie Queene was an epic poem by Earth author Edmund Spenser written in the 16th century.
According to Michael Sullivan who gave a copy of the book as a present to Kathryn Janeway, it is the longest poem in the English language, and the first to use a nine line stanza. (VOY: "Spirit Folk")
