Ship's theatre

The USS Enterprise's theater

A theater was a performance space found aboard Federation starships, with a stage and seating for a live audience. The theater can be used to show plays as well as musical performances. The Template:ShipClass USS Enterprise and the Template:ShipClass USS Enterprise-D both had theaters. (TOS: "The Conscience of the King"; TNG: "Sarek", "The Nth Degree", "Frame of Mind")

In 2266, Anton Karidian, along with his daughter Lenore and the Karidian Company of Players performed Hamlet for the crew of the USS Enterprise. The Enterprise's theatre later became the site of Anton Karidian's death, after his daughter, driven mad, killed him with a hand phaser while trying to murder Captain James T. Kirk. (TOS: "The Conscience of the King")

For the theater room as it appeared on "Sarek", the Ten Forward stage was used. The theater in "The Conscience of the King"" was a redress of the Engineering set.

On smaller starships, the mess hall could be converted into an impromptu movie theater, or a simulation of such a theater could be recreated on a holodeck. (ENT: "Dear Doctor", "Cold Front"; VOY: "Repression")
