Theta Radiation is a product formed by contaminated antimatter byproducts. It is extremely dangerous to the health of humanoids. Theta Radiation can also block sensor scans.

The Malon species' means to generate power form large amounts of antimatter byproducts ("9 Billion isotons a day"). These antimatter byproducts emit large forms of theta radiation. The Malon send out cargo vessels to dump the antimatter, leaving areas of space with large quantities of theta radiation.

In the void, a Malon named Emck used the region of space to dump his antimatter loads. Void aliens, who were indigenous to the void, started to suffer from theta radiation poisoning, many of which died.

Transporter bio-filters can stop theta radiation from entering a ship.

The final stages of theta radiation poisoning involve the degrading of major body organs. (VOY: Night)

In a race to deploy personalized shuttles to capture Voyager's probe in a gas giant. The Malon attempted to disrupt Voyager's progress by dumping amounts of theta radiation. These attempts slightly damaged Voyager's shields (VOY: Extreme Risk)
