Tim Walston

Template:Realworld Timothy "Tim" Walston (born 25 January 1969; age 55) is a sound engineer who served as a sound designer on Star Trek Nemesis, along with Jim Wolvington and Harry Cohen. In addition, Walston served as sound effects designer on the video game Star Trek: New Worlds and as sound designer on the game Star Trek: Starfleet Command - Orion Pirates. More recently, Walston worked as Sound Designer on J.J. Abrams' Star Trek.

Walston was born in Northridge, California and started his career as sound effects editor in the mid '90s for movies such as the comedy Soul Food (1997, starring Vanessa Williams), the thriller Most Wanted (1997), the fantasy action film Mortal Kombat: Annihilation (1997), the vampire movie Blade (1998), and the television movies Babylon 5: The River of Souls (1998, alongside Harry Cohen) and Babylon 5: A Call to Arms (1998, along Star Trek: Voyager utility soundman Dennis C. Salcedo).

Walston worked as sound designer on the science fiction film Beowulf (1999), the horror film Bats (1999, written by John Logan and with Star Trek: Deep Space Nine sound editor Eric Williams), the comedy The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle (2000), the drama Sweet November (2001, alongside Nemesis assistant sound editor William Cawley), Rob Cohen's thriller The Fast and the Fuious (2001), the comedy Summer Catch (2001), the action thriller Collateral Damage (2002, with Star Trek: Insurrection digital music playback operator Thomas Giordano), the horror film Queen of the Damned (2002), the action thriller xXx (2002), the science fiction film The Core (2003), and the video games Enter the Matrix (2003, along David Lee Fein) and Shrek 2 (2004).

More recently, he worked as sound editor or sound designer on Wolfgang Petersen's action film Poseidon (2006), the horror film Snakes on a Plane (2006), the horror thriller The Hitcher (2007), the video game Devil May Cry 4 (2008), the comic adaptation The Incredible Hulk (2008), the action sequel The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008), and the drama The Time Traveler's Wife (2009, starring Eric Bana).

Walston received two Golden Reel Award nominations from the Motion Picture Sound Editors: In 2002 for Best Sound Editing - Effects & Foley, Domestic Feature Film for The Fast and the Furious, shared with Nemesis sound effects editors Steve Mann and Howard Neiman, foley editor Scott Curtis, and sound editor Dan Yale, and in 2008 for Best Sound Editing: Direct to Video for the animated feature The Invincible Iron Man.
