Timicin

Timicin, a male Kaelon.

Doctor Timicin was a scientist from the [[planet] Kaelon II.

In 2367, the Kaelons turned to the Federation for help as the sun of the Kaelon system was gradually dying and time was running out. Starfleet was able to assist in an experiment developed by Kaelon scientist Dr. Timicin designed to revitalize the Kaelon sun. This process was known as helium fusion enhancement, and a test was performed in the Praxillus system.

He was forced to stop his work after he turned sixty, when Kaelons are supposed to commit suicide in a ritual known as Resolution. Timicin became convinced that the solution to his experiments was imminent, and applied for asylum aboard the USS Enterprise-D. At this time, he became involved with Lwaxana Troi, who supported his decision to live. However, Timcin ultimately withdrew his request for asylum and returned to Kaelon II to perform his Resolution, accompanied by Troi. (TNG: "Half a Life")

Timicin was played by actor David Ogden Stiers.
