A train was a connected series of vehicles, powered by a locomotive, and transporting freight or passenger wagons along a railroad, between train stations. Trains were used on Earth until at least the late 24th century.

After Jonathan Archer restored a damaged timeline, a train could be seen in the time stream as the timeline realigned itself. (ENT: "Storm Front, Part II")

This seemed to be during the late 19th or early 20th century.

In 1958, T'Mir traveled by train on her way from Carbon Creek to Pittsburgh. (ENT: "Carbon Creek")

In "Carbon Creek", only the interior of this train is depicted. This was described, in the episode's final draft script, as "A simple two-wall train set with a green screen landscape rolling past the camera."

Sigmund Freud met Gertrude Stein on a train, the Orient Express. The Orient Express was also the subject of a holodeck simulation enjoyed by Beverly Crusher. (TNG: "Emergence")

In 1996, Henry Starling had a model train on the desk in his office. (VOY: "Future's End")

"This train is bound for blood" was the tagline for the movie called Blood Train, which was released in 2022. There were a number of posters for this film in Toronto. (SNW: "Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow")

Zefram Cochrane preferred taking trains because he disliked air travel (much less going into space). (Star Trek: First Contact)

A primitive unnamed planet visited by Enterprise in 2152 had developed trains. (ENT: "The Communicator") A train-like vehicle could also be found on Dekendi III. (ENT: "Stigma")

In Paris in 2257, a train drove by on a railroad near the President of the United Federation of Planets' office, where Michael Burnham learned that she was pardoned by the President by Sarek. (DIS: "Will You Take My Hand?") Paris retained a train system in the 2370s. (DS9: "Paradise Lost")

In the alternate reality, monorail-like trains were operating aboard Starbase Yorktown in 2263. (Star Trek Beyond)

In 2268, while the crew of the USS Enterprise were staring into the Guardian of Forever, an image of a train from the Ancient West could be seen. (TOS: "The City on the Edge of Forever")

In 2372, a tube next to Starfleet Headquarters was used as a railway for trains. (DS9: "Homefront", "Paradise Lost")

The planet Quarra had a transit system of hovertrains in a major industrial city in 2377. (VOY: "Workforce")

By 2381, there were trains on Corazonia, which were used as transportation by the natives. There were even elevated systems of tubes through which the trains traveled. (LD: "In the Cradle of Vexilon")

Captain Liam Shaw once metaphorically referred to the USS Titan, a ship that he commanded; as a train. This was during a dinner conversation with Jean-Luc Picard and William T. Riker. (PIC: "The Next Generation")

In 3189, the crew of the USS Discovery watched the silent film Sherlock Jr. in which Buster Keaton's character was nearly struck by a train while on a motorcycle. (DIS: "Forget Me Not")

In the video game Star Trek: Resurgence, Captain Zachary Solano is shown to be a train hobbyist as he kept a model train on display in his ready room and would often make references to steam locomotives being "the warp drive of their day."
