The Turkana system was a star system located in Federation space. The fourth planet in the system, Turkana IV, was home to Turkana City, a failed Earth colony.
In 2360, the starship USS Potemkin visited the system. The colonists issued a warning to the starship captain not to beam any of his crew down.
Seven years later, the USS Enterprise-D entered this system in response to a distress call from the freighter USS Arcos. (TNG: "Legacy")
