For the 23rd century starship, please see USS Carolina (23rd century).

The USS Carolina was a 24th century Federation starship operated by Starfleet. At maximum warp, the Carolina could travel 0.7 light years in two hours.

In 2377, Captain Peterson was the commanding officer of this ship. In that year, it was diverted by Admiral Owen Paris to intercept a Ferengi Marauder that was interfering with Project Pathfinder's communications with the USS Voyager.

At the time, the Marauder had created a geodesic fold, which it was attempting to lure Voyager through; an event that would have subsequently killed all aboard. Reginald Barclay suggested using the Carolina to close the fold, however, the ship was not equipped to perform such a task. (VOY: "Inside Man")

With 110 years between references, Memory Alpha assumes this Carolina was a different ship from the one mentioned in "Friday's Child".
According to the video game Star Trek: Legacy, the Carolina was a Centaur-type starship.
