The USS Nautilus (NCC-31910) was a Template:ShipClass Federation starship in service in the 24th century.

The Nautilus fought in the Dominion War. In late 2374 she saw action at the First Battle of Chin'toka where she, along with the USS Hood and USS Tian An Men, assisted the USS Defiant in destroying the orbital weapon platforms' shared power generator. (DS9: "Tears of the Prophets")

Background

The Nautilus's appearance in "Tears of the Prophets" was confirmed by John Gross and Karen Sickles of Digital Muse in a 25 June 1998 post, by DS9 Visual Effects Supervisor David Stipes, on the newsgroup alt.tv.star-trek.ds9.

One of the Mirandas that appeared in this sequence quite clearly bore the registry of NCC-1864.

The Nautilus may have been named for the famous fictional submarine Nautilus from Jules Verne's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, the first practical submarine launched in 1800, and the first nuclear submarine launched in the 1950s.
