The USS Nightwing (NCC-8342) was a 24th century Federation starship operated by Starfleet. In 2364, this starship was commanded by Herman Zimmerman

In that year, Admiral Gregory Quinn of Starfleet Operational Support Services ordered the Nightwing to go to warp factor 7 for a rendezvous with another spacecraft. This other spacecraft was assigned to the McKenzie Project.
