For the freighter, please see Ticonderoga.

The USS Ticonderoga (NCC-87270) was a Federation starship that was in service with Starfleet in the mid-24th century. In 2364, the ship's commanding officer was Captain Arrat.

In that year, prior to stardate 41775, this starship received an order from Commodore Toki of Starfleet Advanced Technologies Division. According to this order, the Ticonderoga was to await instructions on the proper means of transmitting information on the testing of the Mark 25 warp sensor to this division. The starship was instructed to take all steps necessary to prevent the Ferengi agents, who were operating in the same sector, from learning about the Mark 25 Warp Sensor and its capabilities. This sensor had strategic value, and the mission the Ticonderoga was assigned was classified as most secret.

Later that year, this ship received orders from Starfleet. At the end of that year, Data read these orders and several others to investigate claims of a conspiracy among the highest members of Starfleet Command. (TNG: "Conspiracy")

This ship, or its successor, was to have been mentioned in the movie Star Trek: Insurrection. According to this movie. in a deleted scene, Quark was picked up at Deep Space 9 by the Ticonderoga for the planet Ba'ku, where the Ferengi would spend a vacation.
The Ticonderoga had the highest NCC designation of the known canonical Federation starships.
Longtime TNG and DS9 Property Master Joe Longo served aboard the real life USS Ticonderoga between 1962 and 1964. [1]
