The USS Trainer was the name given to a starship simulator based at Starfleet Academy in the mid-23rd century. This simulator contained a bridge in the standard configuration, On this bridge, the cadets were tested for their responses to situations they may potentially face when aboard an actual ship. The cadets' responses were monitored by console technicians from a testing control booth placed in a wall of this simulator. Administrators supervised the simulations from this booth. This pseudo-ship was used for the Kobayashi Maru scenario in which Cadet James T. Kirk cheated the test and rescued the crew of the USS Kobayashi Maru from the Klingons in 2258. (Star Trek)

The name of this starship simulator was from the film's script.
