The USS Volga was a 24th century Federation Danube-class runabout operated by Starfleet. This ship was assigned to Deep Space 9.

In 2372, the Volga was used in a botanical survey of Torad V in the Gamma Quadrant. Major Kira and a pregnant Keiko O'Brien were injured when the Volga was struck by an asteroid and one of their fuel pods exploded. Keiko's injuries necessitated the transfer of her unborn baby into Kira's body. (DS9: "Body Parts")

It was also to be used in response to an anticipated Dominion invasion in 2373. (DS9: "By Inferno's Light")

In the Star Trek Encyclopedia (4th ed., vol. 2, p. 335), it was stated that the registry for this runabout was NCC-73196.
Given the practice of naming runabouts after Earth rivers (specifically stated by Kira Nerys in "Family Business"), Volga was likely named after the homonymous river in Western Russia.
According to the script, the ship's name was pronounced as "VOLE-ga". [1]
