Lieutenant j.g. Van Mayter was a Starfleet engineering officer aboard the USS Enterprise-D in the 2360s.
She was on duty in main engineering when a spaceborne lifeform dubbed "Junior" attached itself onto the hull of the ship. (TNG: "Galaxy's Child")
Van Mayter passed the transporter room when Chief O'Brien left to let Counselor Troi speak to her mother. (TNG: "Half a Life")
She scanned the shuttlecraft Onizuka in the shuttlebay when Geordi La Forge returned from Risa. (TNG: "The Mind's Eye")
In late 2367, she was killed while investigating the effects of subspace deformations on the Enterprise-D when one such distortion formed in the deck beneath her, causing her to fall partially into it. (TNG: "In Theory")
Van Mayter was played by recurring background actress Georgina Shore who received no credit for her appearances.
