Vic's Lounge, Las Vegas

Vic's lounge

Dancers

The lounge is hijacked by mob gangsters, complete with dancing showgirls

Vic's lounge was the setting for the holographic program Bashir 62 based in a fictional 1961 casino hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Featuring Vic Fontaine, the program was written in 2374 by Felix, a good friend of Julian Bashir's. The program was popular in the holosuites in Quark's on Deep Space 9.

Odo spent time in the lounge in 2374, seeking the advice of Vic Fontaine in order to woo Kira Nerys. Odo and Kira's first date, a candlelit dinner and dance, took place in the lounge, though the participants had been tricked into attending by Vic (Odo thought he was dating a hologram of Kira, and Kira thought Odo knew she was real). (DS9: "His Way")

Worf visited Vic's in 2375 after Jadzia Dax's death. He insisted that Vic perform Jadzia's favorite song, "All the Way", and subsequently wrecked the lounge as a way of venting his anger and sorrow over Jadzia not entering Sto-vo-kor when she died. (DS9: "Image in the Sand")

Later that year, the lounge was taken over by mob gangsters – a scenario implanted into the holoprogram by Felix as a "jack-in-the-box" surprise to make it more interesting. The program could not be reset until the jack-in-the-box scenario was played out, and the situation could only be resolved in a period-specific manner according to the internal rules of the program. The crew of Deep Space 9 staged a heist to steal the casino back from the mob, and the lounge subsequently returned to its normal state. (DS9: "Badda-Bing, Badda-Bang")

Nog retreated into the lounge after losing his leg to Jem'Hadar phaser fire at AR-558, utterly unable to cope with the world outside. He helped Vic to run the lounge for a while, but was eventually persuaded to return to reality and get on with his life. (DS9: "It's Only a Paper Moon")

Bashir cited his and Miles O'Brien's time in the lounge as an example that Miles liked him more than his wife, Keiko. (DS9: "Extreme Measures")

The lounge hosted the "End-of-the-war-good-bye-to-Chief-O'Brien-good-bye-to-Odo-good-bye-to-Worf-party". Benjamin Sisko toasted the gathered group as "the best crew any captain ever had", and Vic performed "The Way You Look Tonight" for them. (DS9: "What You Leave Behind")

Vic's establishment was never officially named in the series. Although not conforming to other casino names of the era, the name used here was derived from Bashir's reference in "Extreme Measures".
Vic's lounge was filmed on Paramount Stage 7.
The novel The Long Mirage calls the establishment the Shining Oasis Hotel and Casino.
