A wake was a Human tradition, similar to the Klingon one of ak'voh, that was performed to honor the dead. In 2373, Miles O'Brien and Worf held an Irish wake for Enrique Muñiz after he was killed on Torga IV. (DS9: "The Ship")

The next year, the crew of Deep Space 9 held a wake for Captain Lisa Cusak, where Scotch whisky was served. (DS9: "The Sound of Her Voice")
