The Yeager-type was a type of Federation starship in use during the 2370s.
The USS Yeager participated in Operation Return and was part of the defense force that protected Deep Space 9 throughout the duration of the war. (DS9: "Sacrifice of Angels")

Studio model
The studio model at auction
This studio model was a kitbash, created by Gary Hutzel from the primary hull and nacelles of Revell-Monogram Template:ShipClass USS Voyager model kit (No.3604), attached to the rear hull of a Maquis raider model kit (No.3605), although the parts differ from their original scale in relation to each other. The overall measurements of the design were 20"×15". [1]
As for the use of "kitbashes" Michael Okuda later commented, "One thing I like about this ship is that it has a distinctly different profile than most other Federation ships. You can see that it's different, even when it's very small on the screen, which is how it's intended to be seen. Otherwise it wouldn't be worth the effort. I love the fact that the DS9 VFX folks put in the extra effort to hint that there was more to Starfleet than the four or five big models that Paramount owned." [2] Okuda's notion about Starfleet having more ship classes was later expanded upon in the later episode DS9: "A Time to Stand" were more kitbashed models were used, though ironically the Yeager was not employed there. It was however the most frequently seen kitbash model as (stock) footage of the model was featured in establishing shots of the station and its environs throughout DS9 Season 5, 6 and 7.
The studio model was offered in the 40 Years of Star Trek: The Collection auction as Lot #495 with an estimated sale price of US$4,000 to $6,000, where it ultimately sold for $8,500 ($10,200 with premium). It has the distinction of being the only kitbashed model offered in the auction.
Technical Manual
The Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Technical Manual describes this vessel as an Template:ShipClass starship variant, describing it as being among the ships "constructed from salvaged components, components in work, and custom assemblies fabricated by the individual fleet yards."
