Your Guide To... Star Trek Generations (catalog number 71512) was a 21 minute promotional documentary which was released on VHS in the UK shortly before the premiere of Star Trek Generations. The video came with a fold-out collectible booklet and was purchased by collecting tokens in The Sun newspaper. The tape was distributed by WHSmith.

The documentary featured interviews with the cast and crew and also focused on those who created the various effects featured in the film. It previewed several sequences from the film and used clips from several Star Trek: The Next Generation episodes. Clips from some of these interviews were also included as special features on the Star Trek Generations (Special Edition) DVD release in 2004.

The video contained a trailer for CIC Video's Star Trek releases and included the film's theatrical trailer. Each tape also came with a a £10 off voucher for one of the Star Trek: The Next Generation - The Full Length TV Movies releases.

Outside the UK the video was also available in a number of other countries. In Australia it could be obtained through a coupon giveaway which could be redemmed at Kmart stores. A Dutch subtitled version (catalog number 99910) was released in the Netherlands. There was also a German dubbed release (catalog number 400623) titled Your Guide To... Star Trek: Treffen der Generationen. A Spanish version, titled Como se hizo Star Trek: La Proxima Generacion was distributed in Spain during the film's premiere.
