Zarabeth

Zarabeth

Zarabeth was an inhabitant of the planet Sarpeidon.

She was exiled to her planet's past because members of her family tried to kill the tyrannical leader of her planet. She was transported to a barren Sarpeidon Ice Age by use of the atavachron, a time portal. She was provided with weapons, food and shelter. But she lived out her existence in total isolation unable ever to return to her time.

Spock and Leonard McCoy of the USS Enterprise were transported to this era by Mr. Atoz. Zarabeth would save them from freezing to death by taking them to her shelter. Zarabeth and Spock fell in love. Spock's emotions were released because in this time period Vulcans had not yet controlled their emotions. Not wanting to be alone, she lied and told Spock that he could not go back because he would die. Those who were sent back in time were processed so their cells could adapt to the new timeline which prevented them from returning. Spock and McCoy had not been processed,so they could return. Eventually she would tell them the truth and lead them to find the door to the portal. Spock would find a door to the portal so they could return to their own period, but still wanted to remain with her. However, the only way for McCoy to return would be for both to return at the same time as that's how they entered. Zarabeth could not leave as she would die if she left her time period and left as they entered the portal. (TOS: "All Our Yesterdays")

Zarabeth was played by actress Mariette Hartley
