Captain Zimbata was a 24th century Starfleet officer in command of the Constellation-class starship USS Victory.
Zimbata attended Starfleet Academy with Edward Jellico; they played on the Academy's rugby team together. Jellico later recalled that Zimbata was awful at the game.
- Zimbata's Academy reference was during a conversation between Jellico and Geordi La Forge that was unfortunately cut from Chain of Command, Part I, and did not appear in the final airing.
Geordi La Forge served under Zimbata on the USS Victory and gave him the gift of a model of his command's namesake, the ancient Earth sailing vessel HMS Victory, in 2365. (TNG: "Elementary, Dear Data")
- It is not known if Zimbata was still captain of the ship when it fought in the Dominion War as referenced in In the Pale Moonlight.
